Lucy had already decided on a 1950s-inspired tea length dress when she came to see me – the perfect choice for her petite, hourglass figure. I helped her to refine her ideas into a definitive design, and select some gorgeous fabrics – an oyster coloured silk dupion and an ivory French lace which worked beautifully together.
We used the silk dupion to create a strapless bodice with a gentle sweetheart curve, over a full skirt supported by a bespoke petticoat. Over the top of the dress was a French lace off-the-shoulder top, with three-quarter sleeves and a row of delicate pearl buttons running up the back. The lace scallop edging was added to the hem of the skirt, and a lace-covered silk sash was worn around the waist.
Lucy and Adam were married in Sheffield at Kelham Island Museum, then took a vintage bus over to the Millennium Galleries for dinner and dancing.
